Independent Age has just launched a major campaign on social care, calling on the government to introduce free personal care for all older people. Free personal care would give older people the help they need with simple activities like getting dressed and getting washed. It would deliver basic fairness, helping people to lead life on their own terms and could help people live at home for longer. Free personal care could also reduce the number of older people stuck in hospital waiting for care and has already been proven to work in Scotland, where it was introduced nearly 2 decades ago.
We would like to invite you to attend an event hosted by Independent Age and the Senior Citizens Forum. At the event, Independent Age will be explaining how it runs campaigns and talking about how the campaign for free personal care will benefit older people in Telford and Wrekin. There will then be an opportunity to support the campaign by adding your name to a letter to local councillors asking them to support our call for free personal care.
Date: Monday 29th April 2019, 10.30am, doors open at 10am. Venue: The Wakes, Theatre Square, Oakengates, TF2 6EP.
