There are many positive reasons for older people to be computer and internet users. We can help you learn.
A group of volunteers who are confident computer users offer their time to tutor older people to use a computer and the internet. Many older people who have already been taught are now enjoying using the internet for: keeping in touch with family and friends, shopping, researching family history, booking holidays, researching activities, editing and sharing photographs, and social network sites.
The training is carried out in the pupil’s home at mutually convenient times. The volunteers will help people who have little or no experience using a computer, and will bring along a laptop and mobile internet device which the pupil can borrow for a few weeks. We regret that we are no longer able to offer this service free and there will be a small charge of £16 for four sessions.
The group also runs free weekly drop in sessions where you can chat, share ideas, get help and advice and even help others. These take place at:
Hartshorne Court, Burton Street, Dawley, every Wednesday morning at 10am until 12 noon
Oliver Court, Ladycroft, Wellington, Wednesdays 2pm - 4pm
Newport Cottage Care Centre, Wednesdays, 12 – 2pm
